How It All Started

Almost ten years ago, as a result of attending a personal development course in New Orleans, U.S.A., John Morris, the founder of Sing Live, made a life changing decision to ‘bring the joy of singing’ to as many people as possible. The concept of Sing Live was born.  It has now grown into a massive family community with thousands of people.  They have one simple thing in common – the joy of singing. There are now nine Sing Live communities based in major cities throughout England and Northern Ireland, and the vision has now spread to the U.S.A.

We have a team of eight full time employees and a large musical crew who work constantly to ensure the Sing Live experience is one to be enjoyed and cherished by each of our singers. Without their hard work and dedication over the years Sing Live UK would not have happened. We thank them all from the bottom of our hearts.

The original plan was to have one company based in Leeds – performing two concerts per year.  We are now in our tenth year, so it should be concert number 20 by the end of the year! In reality event number 171 is next on the blocks!
During that time we have been privileged to visit 119 cities in 23 countries – and approaching 40,000 singers have appeared in our concerts.

The enthusiasm, love and dedication of our singers make us extremely proud to promote our simple but often life changing concept throughout the UK. We have had incredible fun in developing this company and the fantastic support and affection shown to us has been very humbling.

Our concerts are a tribute to the skill, courage and talent of ordinary people from all over the UK who made an important decision: they wanted to sing, but on the big stage. This is the essence of Sing Live. We have no auditions to join the company as we believe everyone has a voice and ‘the woods would be a very quiet place if the only birds that sang there were the birds that sang the best’ and our singers undergo a three month professional training program to prepare for the performance. You will see people of all ages, all walks of life, - just like you – ranging from absolute beginners to experienced singers all with one common aim – to Sing Live and perform in magnificent venues and entertain you with the very cream of songs from the musicals, the movies and beyond.

In addition to concerts in our ‘home’ areas we are privileged to participate in other events.  We have made TV and radio appearances, special concert appearances and CD recordings. We organise national and international ‘singing trips’, and have appeared at The Royal Albert Hall, London, The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London, Sheffield Arena, The Odyssey Arena Belfast, Disneyworld, Florida, Carnival Cruise Lines, Holland and America Cruise Lines and St Paul’s Chapel, Ground Zero, New York to name just a few! We also have the added excitement of sharing the platform with stars from the stage and screen from time to time.

Add to that our new companies in the USA and our concept of bringing the joy of singing to the people and our company saying of ‘ordinary people doing extraordinary things in exciting places’ is now truly transatlantic.
